Does any one know why when engaging reverse on a 660 the knob only turns a bit and not the full turn? I'm unable to engage reverse.

Have you got the manual?
You need to be pushing the gear lever down from first while turning the knob and yes it only turns a little way to engage. Might not have been used for sometime so pump pedal a few times while trying the dial.
Light on dash should indicate it is in reverse.
They also have a limiter fitted so you cannot over rev it in reverse. Can be disabled and usually is as it is annoying.
Do a search on here as there is lots of older threads on the 660.

No I haven't got a manual. I checked this website but searching was a bit difficult because I didn't come up with anything in specific.
I know how to engage reverse but what I originally meant to say was that the knob doesn't turn as much as it should to engage. I'm aware of the limiter issue as well.
Are you aware of any probable cause in the transmission? Is there a known issue with any component?

I have never had any problem with mine. From memory it is only an electronic switch to engage it. Is the switch actually faulty?
I used to go to www.rivaracing.com as they have the full parts manuals available online.
You might find something there.
Have you changed oil?
