Does any one know how to fix this? Or at least do something so the front chain guard can go back on? The bike is an 06 700 raptor. I got the chain off but I just need to know how I can fix the thread where the top bolt goes back in.

If it can't be fixed, what are my alternatives?

Is the bolt still in there? If yes, just use an screw extractor/easy out. If the threads are buggered just tap a new thread.

Once repaired go get this:

No the bolt isn't in there anymore. The bolt came out easy I didn't know how bad it was until I pulled the cover off. Thanks very much for the link. I'll look into that. Much obliged.

I am going to be pulling my bike down for a few repairs / maintenance issues at the end of August.

If any one can recommend how I can fix this thread it would be great.

I can't tap a new thread, as you can see the existing one is bent and on an angle. I just want to be able to repair it and put a case saver on it to fix it up.

I can consider a new case, and if I do, can the case be replaced without pulling the engine out ?

Any thoughts anyone?

Thank you.

After looking at my girls 700, it looks like the cases will have to be split. You can bend cast alloy with a bit of heat, but its a gamble some alloys will and some wont or you could grind down the post and weld another post on. I would try all of the above before splitting the cases you got nothing to loose

Best of luck
