The Western Australian Quad Race Team head to Smithton Tasmania on October 25th & 26th to contest the Australian Quad Motocross Championships.
The 5 race series over 2 days will see all Quad classes catered for from Juniors, Women, Vets and the penultimate class of the Pro Quad Racers.
Representatives Australia wide will converge on the small town of Smithton for this Years biggest event, penned as one of the hottest tickets in town for anyone following the giants of Quad racing. The Pro Quad grid for 2008 will see the who’s who of the Quad motocross scene. Factory Teams from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Can-Am and Polaris will all be represented with spectators travelling the distance just to watch.
Multi Champion and Honda Australia rider Chris Brenton will compete alongside Honda Australia current
Aus #1 Anthony Yewers with Yamaha Australia rider and Aus#2 Ryan Lancaster also a hot favourite., while Savage Suzuki’s Chad McKay is always one to watch. Rockingham Powersport’s Can-Am rider Luke Gaisford, will debut his Pro Racing career, while Taylor Milling will complete the 6 WA riders that no doubt, will form the largest part of the Pro Grid.
Junior racing is sensational in WA and the 200-300cc class is fiercely contested at Club, Open and State Level. Marcus Smith & Stephen Wilson lead the charge followed by Joel Mortimer, Kyle Brenton, Nicholas Osborne and Donovan Petersen in their 3rd Nationals, while Jordon Dummett debut's his National racing career in Smithton, Bernice Ackermann leads the charge for the girls in the Blasters, while Women’s 2008 WA #1 Roxanne Petersen & WA #2 Jessica Osborne will certainly give the Eastern Staters a run for their money.
Jordan Smith coming through to seniors from Blasters will be WA’s only Clubman entry, while Former Multi Aus Vet Champ Rockingham Powersports rider Grant Gaisford will tackle the older end of the vets class at 44 years of age.
90cc State Champion Christopher Bosnakis at 11 is a pocket dynamo and a veteran of 3 Nationals, this being his 4th, having travelled extensively throughout WA to race, Chris’s style and form is notorious in Junior Quad Motocross. Kyle Yewers, the youungest member of the team will make his first appearance nationally, and I'm sure hope to follow in the footsteps of his father Ant.
One of the strongest teams fielded away from WA, travelling in convoy, trucking sea containers, Multi storey Quad Trailers, Plane trips and transfers, Ferry bookings, Hotel bookings, hire cars, this logistical nightmare is one of the largest undertaken by a team of 20 riders and those of us at home will be waiting by the phone for results to come to light. _________________ www.waquadmx.com |
